Offensive Player of the Week

After leading Cal Poly to a pair of road wins with two double-doubles, Tommi Stockham picked up Big West Offensive Player of the Week acclaim. The award is Stockham’s sixth overall weekly distinction, and the fourth of the offensive variety.

Stockham averaged 3.86 kills and 3.57 digs per set while the Mustangs posted wins at then-league undefeated UC Davis and at UC Riverside. Against the Aggies, the outside hitter finished with 13 kills, 12 digs and three service aces to hand UCD their first loss in Big West play.

In the sweep at UC Riverside the redshirt junior from Las Vegas added 14 kills with just two errors on .500 hitting to go along with 13 digs and one solo block.

With 1,207 career kills including the 2020-21 season at Indiana, Stockham has now surpassed the 1,000 kill mark in a Cal Poly jersey.

Defensive Player of the Week

UC Santa Barbara’s Grace Wuischpard had a phenomenal week of blocking for the Gauchos to secure Big West Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first career weekly honor for the sophomore from Danville, Calif.

Wuischpard averaged 1.5 blocks per set while notching eight against UC Riverside and seven against UC Davis in a pair of five-set road victories for UCSB.

Opening up the weekend against the Highlanders, the middle blocker also added three service aces, two kills and two digs to the stat sheet.

Wuischpard is part of a solid front line for the Gauchos that averages 2.79 blocks per set on the season, good for 12th in NCAA Division I.

Setter of the Week

Directing the Cal Poly offense to a pair of wins on the weekend, sophomore Emme Bullis earned Big West Setter of the Week for the first time this season, and fifth time in a career.

The redshirt sophomore averaged 9.29 assists per set while guiding the Cal Poly offense to a .229 hitting percentage with wins at UC Davis and UC Riverside. The weekend assist average proved to be nearly three over Bullis’ season assist average of 6.38.

In a four-set victory against the Aggies, Bullis assisted on 41 scoring plays while adding eight digs, three blocks and an ace. The Whitewater, Wis., native totaled 24 assists and six digs in a tidy three-set affair at UC Riverside to cap the weekend.

Freshman of the Week

CSUN first-year player Paige Sentes helped the Matadors to a weekend split to claim Big West Freshman of the Week honors.

Sentes contributed eight digs and three aces in a straight-set loss to UC San Diego to open the weekend.

In Saturday’s five-set win against Long Beach State, the Bakersfield, Calif., native finished with seven digs, four assists and three aces as CSUN upended the Beach.

All told on the year, Sentes has swung away for 25 service aces, one back from the league leaders. The total tally is tied for 18 nationally among Division I freshmen.
