UCSB's Gonzalez, Janssen of UC Davis and CSUN's Harris Claim Weekly Honors

Offensive Player of the Week 
Lucas Gonzalez, UC Santa Barbara | Redshirt Junior • Midfielder • Long Beach, Calif. 
  • 23845UC Santa Barbara's Lucas Gonzalez recorded two goals and an assist in two games to claim the Offensive Player of the Week award. 

  • On Wednesday, Gonzalez tallied one goal and one assist in a 3-0 win against Sacramento State.  

  • On Saturday at CSUN, the redshirt junior scored a goal in the 21st minute to tie the game at 1-1. The contest ended in a 2-2 draw. 

  • Gonzalez has amassed five goals and five assists on the season. 

  • UC Santa Barbara is in second place in The Big West with a 4-2-2 record and has a shot at winning the regular season title with a win in its final matchup.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Charles Janssen, UC Davis | Redshirt Junior • Goalkeeper • Sebastopol, Calif.
  • 8137Charles Janssen helped UC Davis to an undefeated week by accumulating 10 saves and gave up one goal in two road games to claim the Defensive Player of the Week accolade. It is Janssen's third career weekly honor after having won the award once earlier this year (Aug. 28) and once last season (Oct. 10). 

  • The redshirt junior goalkeeper compiled five saves in a 2-0 shutout at Cal State Bakersfield Wednesday. It was Janssen's fourth shutout of the season. 

  • On Saturday, the Sebastopol, Calif. product accumulated five more saves in a 2-1 win at UC San Diego. 
  • Janssen has amassed 50 saves in 16 games (1,406 minutes) this season and sports a 1.09 goals-against average.

  • UC Davis is on a two-game win streak and is currently tied for third in the conference standings at 4-3-1.

Freshman of the Week 
Zack Harris, CSUN | Freshman • Midfielder • Agoura Hills, Calif.
  • 22607CSUN freshman midfielder Zack Harris scored two goals to earn Freshman of the Week honors. It is the second week in a row that a Matador has won the conference's top freshman honor. 

  • On Saturday, the Agoura Hills, Calif. native gave the Matadors two different leads in the game against UC Santa Barbara. The first came in the first half to put CSUN 1-0 and the other in the second half to take a 2-1 lead. The contest ended in a 2-2 draw. It was Harris' third career start. 

  • Played 68 minutes in a 2-1 win against UC San Diego and took two shots. 
  • CSUN is riding a five-game unbeaten streak and is still alive for Big West Championship contention with a 2-3-3 conference record.
