Natalie Glenn led Long Beach State to a pair of home sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawai’i to earn a career first weekly award as Big West Offensive Player of the Week.

The junior outside hitter led the Beach with a total of 28 kills (4.67 per set), while hitting .407 (28-6-54) on the weekend. Glenn also contributed 1.83 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set, while serving up four aces.

On Thursday, Glenn knocked down 17 kills on a .593 clip to go along with six digs, three blocks, and an ace against the Tritons.

The Southlake, Texas, native registered 11 kills with five digs, three blocks and three aces as the Beach snapped an 11-match losing streak against Hawai’i, dating back to 2016. The sweep of the ’Bows is the first for the Beach since 1997.

Glenn bumped up the season kills per set average to 3.00, hitting over 75 percent better than the season average of 2.66 heading into the week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Savana Chacon anchored the Long Beach State defense to secure Big West Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after also earning acclaim on Sept. 18.

Chacon’s stout play in the back court produced 29 total digs, or 4.83 digs per set, in a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawai’i. The Crown Point, Ind., native helped hold the Beach's opponents to a .116 attack percentage.

In Thursday’s win against the Tritons, Chacon contributed 16 digs and six assists. Friday, the libero added a double-double of 13 digs and three assists as the Beach downed the Rainbow Wahine in three in the match televised by ESPNU. It was the first LBSU win over rival Hawai’i since 2016.

Zayna Meyer piloted Long Beach State to a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawai’i to claim Big West Setter of the Week for the first time this season, and a fifth career honor.

The redshirt sophomore led the Beach to a .255 attack percentage while dishing out 11.83 assists per set coupled with 2.50 digs per set.

In Thursday’s three-set win over UC San Diego, Meyer finished with 39 assists, eight digs and two aces.

The Wheaton, Ill., native followed it up on national television with 32 assists, seven digs, two kills and a block as the Beach took down defending champion Hawai’i at Walter Pyramid. It was the first Long Beach State victory over the Rainbow Wahine since 2016, and the first Beach sweep in the series since Nov. 1, 1997.

Cal State Fullerton first-year player Ameena Campbell picked up Big West Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week after a career outing over the weekend.

The outside hitter posted a career-high 19 kills in a four-set loss at league-leading UC Santa Barbara to go with nine digs and three blocks.

Against Cal Poly, Campbell closed with a team-best nine kills and six digs from the outside hitting position.

Campbell is the first Cal State Fullerton player to garner a Freshman of the Week award since 2019 when Julia Crawford was honored twice.
