CSUN Sweeps Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week 
Jamar Ricketts, CSUN | Junior • Forward • Montclair, N.J.
  • 22607CSUN's Jamr Ricketts scored two goals in two games to claim the Offensive Player of the Week award. It is Ricketts' second weekly honor of the season and career, previously winning the award on Sept. 4 earlier this year. 

  • On Wednesday, Ricketts hit the equalizer in the 63rd minute as the Matadors drew with UC Davis 1-1. 

  • On Saturday, the junior forward scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute to lead the Matadors to a 1-0 victory. Ricketts dribbled more than half the length of the field and ran by multiple Anteater defenders in the process. 

  • Ricketts has amassed six goals and five assists on the season. Those numbers rank fourth and third, respectively, in The Big West. 

  • CSUN is currently on a three-game unbeaten streak.

Defensive Player of the Week 
Merrick Cook, CSUN | Freshman • Goalkeeper • Cerritos, Calif.
  • 22607Merrick Cook helped CSUN to an undefeated week on the road by accumulating seven saves and gave up one goal in two games to claim the Defensive Player of the Week accolade. 

  • On Wednesday, Cook stopped three shots and allowed one in a 1-1 draw at UC Davis. 

  • The Cerritos, Calif. product notched a career-first shutout in a 1-0 win at UC Irvine on Saturday. Cook made four saves facing 15 Anteater shots, 11 coming in the second half. 
  • The freshman goalkeeper was thrusted into the starting lineup and has started the last three games. CSUN is currently unbeaten in games that Cook starts. 

  • Also Nominated: Carlos Gonzalez (UC Riverside), Tetsuya Kadono (Cal State Fullerton), Brandon Limes (Cal State Bakersfield), Mitchell Wilson (UC San Diego);
