Career-High Scoring Effort Nets UC Irvine's Leuchten Weekly Honor

30264• UC Irvine center Bent Leuchten averaged 23.0 points on 81 percent shooting in two wins to earn The Big West Player of the Week honor, presented by Hercules Tires. Leuchten is a first-time Big West honoree.

• Leuchten had an efficient week, shooting 81 percent (17-of-21) from the field, 80 percent (4-of-5) from behind the arc and 89 percent (8-of-9) from the charity stripe.

• The sophomore compiled a career-high 31 points, to go along with two rebounds, an assist and no turnovers, in only 20 minutes of play, Thursday night in an 88-83 road win at UC Davis. Leuchten also posted career-bests in field goals made (12), 3-pointers made (2) and free throws made (5).

• The German center recorded 15 points, four rebounds and no turnovers in 20 minutes as UC Irvine earned an 87-70 home victory against Long Beach State. Leuchten went 5-for-6 from the floor, including 2-of-2 from deep, and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

• UC Irvine is currently 10-5 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Big West play. Leuchten is averaging 10.4 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game so far this season.
