UC Santa Barbara's Amelia Honer Collects Third Career Player of the Week Honor

30348• UC Santa Barbara sophomore Amelia Honer won two singles matches at the No. 1 spot and two doubles matches, also at No. 1, to earn The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week award. It is Honer's third weekly honor from the conference, having won the honor twice last season. 

• In the Gauchos' season opener Friday, the sophomore defeated Yana Gurevich of UC Davis in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2). Honer teamed up with Kira Reuter to take down the Aggie pair of Gurevich and Lauren Ko 6-1 in doubles. In team scoring, UC Santa Barbara defeated UC Davis 5-2. 

• On Saturday against No. 12 Cal, Honer collected a win against Haley Giavara in No. 1 singles, 2-6, 6-1, 10-8. In doubles, Honer and Reuter defeated the 15th-ranked Cal pair of Jessica Alsola and Katja Wierscholm 6-1.
