Cindy Arteaga, CSUN  Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week  Junior • Forward • Santa Rosa, Calif.

• CSUN forward Cindy Arteaga netted four goals in three games this week to claim Big West Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors. This is Arteaga’s first career weekly distinction. 

• Arteaga hit a penalty kick on Monday in the 90th minute in a 2-1 loss to UC Irvine in non-conference competition.  

• At CSU Bakersfield, Arteaga found the corner of the net in the 11th minute from 18 yards out to record CSUN’s lone goal in their Big West opener. 

• The Santa Rosa, Calif., native notched the brace in a 2-0 win over Portland State on Sunday to round out the week with eight points. The brace is the first for a Matador since 2019 

• Arteaga currently leads the Big West in shots (38) and shots on goal (18) and is tied for 2nd in goals (6).

Lauren Marquez, Hawai'i  Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week  Graduate Student • Goalkeeper • Glendale, Ariz.

• Hawai’i goalkeeper Lauren Marquez recorded her second clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 victory over UC Davis to open up Big West Play and earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.  

• The graduate student made a pair of second-half saves, including one in the final 10 minutes to preserve the narrow Hawai’i lead.  

• The shutout was the fifth in Marquez’ collegiate career, and just the second-ever victory for the Rainbow Wahine in a Big West opening match. 

• Marquez currently leads the conference in goals-against average, giving up 0.857 per game with three goals allowed in 315 minutes in the net.

Jette Zimmer, CSU Bakersfield Women’s Soccer Freshman of the Week  Freshman • Forward • Beidenfleth, Germany

• Jette Zimmer recorded three points in CSU Bakersfield’s Big West opener to claim Freshman of the Week acclaim. This is the first weekly conference honor for Zimmer.  

• The forward punched in the game-tying goal versus CSUN, calmly finding the lower right corner on the penalty kick opportunity in the 55th minute.  

• The native of Beidenfleth, Germany, assisted on the game-winning strike in the 72nd minute as the Roadrunners netted three goals in the final half of action.
