Season's First Men's Soccer Weekly Honors go to Aguilar, Wenzel and Garcia

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

29524• UC Santa Barbara sophomore forward Salvador Aguilar accumulated two goals to earn The Big West Offensive Player of the Week. The Gauchos went 1-0-1 on the week. It is the San Simeon product's second career Offensive Player of the Week honor after winning it once last season. 

• The forward netted the equalizing goal in the 75th minute to seal a 1-1 road draw at No. 19 Missouri State in the season opener Thursday. 

• On Sunday, Aguilar scored the first goal in a 2-0 home win against California Baptist.

29523• CSUN redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Cooper Wenzel led the Matadors to a 1-0-1 record on the week to start the 2022 campaign and claim The Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The Fresno product recorded a combined .818 save percentage in the two contests. 

• On Thursday in the season opener, the redshirt sophomore made three saves as CSUN recorded a 2-1 home win over San Diego State.

• Wenzel tied his career-high with six saves on Sunday as the Matadors tied SIUE 1-1.

Freshman • Forward • Albuquerque, N.M. 
29525• UC Davis freshman forward Marcus Garcia recorded a goal against a ranked opponent to win The Big West Freshman of the Week honor. 

• The Albuquerque native scored the equalizing goal in the 58th minute against No. 5 Oregon State in his collegiate debut. The Aggies allowed a late goal to the Beavers and fell 2-1.
