- Ryan Torres of UC Davis has earned the final weekly award of the 2022 season, winning both his singles and doubles matches as the Aggies knocked off Big West foe UC San Diego at home last Saturday, 4-2.
- The true freshman from San Ramon first teamed up with freshman partner Ryan Morgan at No. 2 doubles and downed Zach Ermert and Eric Silberman, 6-2. It was the duo’s fourth straight victory.
- Torres then defeated William Lan in straight sets on the No. 2 singles court, 6-1, 6-3. The result moved Torres up to a team-high 21 singles wins on the year, including 17 over his last 18 completed matches. UCD finished the regular season with a 15-13 mark in dual contests.
- Torres is a two-time Big West Player of the Week already in his first season of college tennis, with a prior selection on Feb. 23. He was one of two Aggies honored this year, alongside junior Andrei Volgin (Feb. 16).
- Torres and his UC Davis teammates are set for the 2022 Big West Men’s Tennis Championship, which will be held at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego this Friday through Sunday, April 29-May 1. The Aggies are the No. 6 seed and will open against No. 3 seed UC Irvine at 9 a.m. Friday.
