- Andre Ilagan, a fourth-year junior who is now ranked 20th nationally in singles, earned his sixth consecutive victory by downing UC San Diego’s Daniel Traxler on the No. 1 court in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
- Earlier in doubles, Ilagan and Karl Collins blanked Traxler and Jett Cole at No. 1, 6-0. He has won his last four finished matches playing at No. 1, three times with Collins and once with Axel Labrunie.
- In defeating the host Tritons in Monday’s Big West opener, 4-2, Hawai’i (8-1) extended its longest win streak in at least 20 years to eight, and moved into the No. 75 spot in Wednesday’s latest national poll.
- Ilagan has won 10 successive sets in singles play over the past five contests.
- Ilagan, a Hawaii product, is a six-time Big West Player of the Week, with previous awards on Feb. 5, 2019, Feb. 12 and Feb. 26 during the 2020 season, April 7, 2021, and now in back-to-back weeks this campaign.
