UC Santa Barbara's Phillip Jordan Nabs Second Weekly Award of the Season

  • UC Santa Barbara sophomore Phillip Jordan earned his second Player of the Week award of the spring after gliding through the week undefeated in both singles and doubles as the Gauchos went 2-1.  

  • Playing from the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, Jordan helped lead the Gauchos to third place in the team standings of Arizona State’s eight-team tournament in Tempe, Ariz. 

  • UC Santa Barbara opened in the bracket against Utah State, and Jordan defeated Cierny, 6-2, 6-4, on court one. Alongside partner Kai Brady, the tandem took care of Ninteman and Ruiz, 6-2, and the Gauchos tallied a 4-0 win.  

  • The Spartanburg, S.C. native was on serve in the third set with Arizona State’s 27th-ranked Murphy Cassone when the match was clinched for the Sundevils. 

  • Jordan again got a pair of wins in the third-place match, taking down Cal Poly’s Noah Berry, 6-4, 6-1 on court 1. In doubles action, Jordan and Brady nabbed their third win of the weekend, earning a 6-2 decision over Joe Leather and Hendrik Inno. UC Santa Barbara got the 4-1 win over their Big West foe to claim third.
