Underclassmen Earn Men's Volleyball Weekly Honors

Men's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

  • Hawai'i sophomore opposite hitter Dimitrios Mouchlias led the Rainbow Warriors' offensive attack averaging 4.63 kills per set on .469 hitting in three wins at the First Point Collegiate Challenge in Austin, Texas, to claim his first career Big West weekly honor. 

  • Hailing from Soufli, Greece, Mouchlias opened the week with a career-high 21 kills with no errors in 39 attempts in a five-set loss at Ball State. He also added 10 digs, two aces and three blocks in the setback for the Rainbow Warriors.  

  • He opened the First Point Collegiate Challenge with a pair of errorless matches against Fairleigh Dickinson (8-0-12) and Queens (11-0-14) playing in two sets in each match. Mouchlias finished out the tournament with a match-high 18 kills and five blocks in a four-set victory over No. 14 Stanford.  

  • All told on the week, he tallied 71 total points with 58 kills (4.46 k/s) on .495 hitting, 16 blocks and 15 digs.

Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week 
Sophomore • Middle Blocker • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

  • Hawai'i sophomore Guilherme Voss was big at the net at the First Point Collegiate Challenge in Austin, Texas, to earn his second career Big West weekly defensive nod (April 12, 2021).  

  • The middle blocker for the Rainbow Warriors posted 14 total blocks, or 1.40 blocks per set, in a trio of wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Queens, and No. 14 Stanford, including a season-best six blocks against Queens.  

  • Offensively, the native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, tallied 1.10 kills per set on .400 hitting in the tournament.

  • Voss missed the Ball State series to open the week due to health and safety protocols.

Men's Volleyball Freshman of the Week
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Sofia, Bulgaria

  • Alex Nikolov led No. 3 Long Beach State to a four-set win over No. 7 USC with 24 kills as he claimed another weekly honor. 

  • The true freshman registered 24 kills on a .429 attack percentage, while adding three aces, two digs, two blocks, and one assist. It was his third 20-kill performance of the season.  

  • The native of Sofia, Bulgaria averaged 6.00 kills per set on the week, bringing his season average to a Big West-best 4.54 kills per set. The tally currently ranks third in NCAA Division I. 

  • This is Nikolov's third consecutive Freshman of the Week award of the season (Jan. 24 & 31). He also picked up the offensive nod on Jan. 24.
