Mustangs, Aggies and Rainbow Wahine Represented for Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

  • Tommi Stockham led the Cal Poly offense to a weekend split to earn Big West Offensive Player of the Week. This marks Stockham’s second career offensive award and fourth overall. 

  • The redshirt sophomore averaged 5.38 kills per set while hitting .283 and added to go along with 1.75 digs per set and a pair of aces as the Mustangs fell on the road at UC Santa Barbara before rebounding for the 3-1 win against CSUN.  

  • In the win over the Matadors, the outside hitter finished with a season-high 24 kills while hitting .442 (24-5-43) and added six digs. The prior night in a four-set loss to the Gauchos on ESPNU, Stockham finished with a team-high 19 kills and eight digs.  

  • Stockham is currently leading The Big West in total kills (194) and kills per set (3.80), including an average of 5.13 against conference opponents.

  • Shira Lahav helped UC Davis to a pair of wins on the weekend to claim Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The recognition is the third of Lahav’s career, also picking up one award in the 2019 and 2021 seasons. 

  • The junior defensive specialist collected 55 digs, or 5.5 per set, in victorious efforts against UC Irvine and UC San Diego. 

  • Highlighting the week for the native of Bat Hefer, Israel was a career-high 37 digs effort in the five-set win over UC San Diego as the Aggies held the Tritons to .110 hitting in the match.

  • Cal Poly’s Emme Bullis directed the Mustangs’ offense to a .254 hitting percentage while averaging 10.75 assists per set and 2.75 digs per set en route to picking up Big West Setter of the Week honors for the second time this season. 

  • The redshirt freshman recorded a pair of double-doubles to bring the season total to nine, starting the weekend with 40 assists and 12 digs in a four-set loss at UC Santa Barbara.  

  • In Saturday’s victory against CSUN, the native of Whitewater, Wisc., recorded 46 assists and 10 digs recording double-doubles in four-set matches against UCSB and CSUN. Against UCSB, she finished with 40 assists and 12 digs. The next night against CSUN, she had 46 assists and 10 digs as well as three assists and an ace.  

  • Bullis leads The Big West in total assists with 491 and is fourth in assists per set averaging 9.44. In four conference matches played, the setter is assisting on 10.60 scoring plays per set, leading the league.

Caylen Alexander, Hawai'i 
Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week

  • True freshman Caylen Alexander produced two performances with double-digit kill totals in two road successes last weekend for Hawai’i to claim Big West Freshman of the Week. 

  • The native of Alpharetta, Ga., totaled 23 kills, including six in the first frame (and set point in each) against both Cal State Fullerton on Friday and Long Beach State on Saturday. In the sweep in Fullerton, Alexander put down 10 kills while hitting .350 (10-3-20) with a dig. At the Walter Pyramid, she added 13 kills and three more digs in a 3-1 win. 

  • Alexander has appeared in all 12 matches for the Rainbow Wahine so far in 2022, recording 10-plus kills in seven of them. The outside hitter has collected 38 kills over the past three contests alone, hitting at a .365 (38-7-85) clip. 

  • A winner of a season-high five in a row, defending champion and preseason favorite Hawai’i (7-5) is tied atop The Big West standings at 4-0 alongside UC Santa Barbara. 

  • Alexander now leads all conference rookies with three Big West Freshman of the Week honors over the first six weeks of the season. She has now earned back-to-back distinctions for the first time, with her initial award coming back on Sept. 5.
