Outside hitter Riley Wagoner averaged 5.0 kills per set while hitting .313 to lead Hawai’i to a pair of victorious efforts en route to Big West Offensive Player of the Week.

The junior pounded a career-high 25 kills on a season-high 51 swings in the 3-1 win against UC San Diego to close the weekend. The kill count is the most for a Hawai’i player since 2017. Wagoner also added four digs, an ace and a block against the Tritons.

The native of Dublin, Ohio, opened up the weekend with 10 kills, seven digs and four blocks in a sweep of UC Irvine on Friday. Wagoner has recorded double-digit kills in the last eight consecutive matches for the Rainbow Wahine and 10 on the season.

A winner of a season-high seven in a row, defending champion and preseason favorite Hawai’i (9-5) is now alone in first atop The Big West standings at 6-0, just ahead of UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. The Rainbow Wahine are 7-2 inside SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

Although this is Wagoner’s first Big West weekly award of 2022, she is now a two-time Big West Offensive Player of the Week, having previously earned the honor on Oct. 11, 2021. Wagoner is UH’s first offensive selection this year.

- CSU Bakersfield libero Paige Calvin anchored her side to back-to-back sweeps from the back row at home inside the Icardo Center this past weekend. She averaged 4.67 digs per set, while also contributing 10 assists and seven aces.
- The fifth-year senior and second-year transfer from Sacramento State led all players on Friday night against UC Davis with 15 digs and a season-high four aces, to go along with six assists. Calvin then added team bests of 13 digs and three aces, with four more assists, the next night versus UC Riverside. The ‘Runners have won two straight matches for the first time in 2022.
- Calvin has appeared in all 18 matches for CSU Bakersfield, and reached double-figure digs in 14 of them. She also leads the team with 23 aces.
- Calvin is CSU Bakersfield’s first women’s volleyball weekly honoree of any kind this season, but is now a two-time Big West Defensive Player of the Week for her career, having been so named on Nov. 1, 2021. She is the only Roadrunner with Big West weekly distinction as the program is in its second season as a league member.

Zayna Meyer, Long Beach State

- Zayna Meyer set Long Beach State to come-from-behind home wins over UC Santa Barbara in four frames and CSUN in five, the latter via reverse sweep as the Beach improved to 5-1 inside the Walter Pyramid. She totaled 110 assists, averaging 12.22 per set, while guiding LBSU to a .273 attack percentage.
- The redshirt freshman from Wheaton, Ill., who spent the 2021 season at BYU, posted double-doubles in both contests to give her eight on the year. She finished with 48 assists, 13 digs, four blocks and two kills against the Gauchos. Meyer then added a career-high 62 assists to go along with 10 digs, six kills and four more blocks versus the Matadors.
- Meyer is now a three-time Big West Setter of the Week for 2022, the most of any player. She earned the season’s first two awards on Aug. 29 and Sept. 5, and was also The Big West Freshman of the Week for Aug. 29. The Beach sit in a four-way tie for fourth in the standings.

- True freshman outside hitter Caylen Alexander recorded her third double-double with 16 kills and a season-best 14 digs in Saturday night’s 3-1 victory for Hawai’i over visiting UC San Diego. For the weekend, she produced 23 kills, 18 digs, four assists and two service aces.
- The native of Alpharetta, Ga., and graduate of Centennial High School provided seven kills, four digs, one ace and a season-high three assists as host UH swept UC Irvine on Friday.
- Alexander has appeared in all 14 matches for the Rainbow Wahine, compiling 10-plus kills in eight of them, including in four of UH’s six Big West tilts. She has collected 61 kills over the past five contests, attacking at a .326 (61-16-138) rate. Alexander continues to lead her team with 19 service aces.
