Kaytlin Brinkman, Cal State Fullerton  Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week  Senior • Forward • Antioch, Calif.

• Kaytlin Brinkman’s first collegiate brace led Cal State Fullerton to a resounding 4-1 home victory on Thursday night over UC Riverside to earn Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors.  

• The senior forward scored twice in a stretch of 108 seconds over the first 5:24 of the contest, marking Brinkman’s third and fourth tallies of the 2022 season for a share of the team lead. The game-winner is Brinkman’s career first. Brinkman now has five strikes in a Titan uniform, and seven in her collegiate career. 

• A product of Antioch who transferred to Cal State Fullerton ahead of the pandemic-canceled 2020 campaign after two years at Saint Mary’s, Brinkman started against the Highlanders, playing 69 minutes and producing a career-high-tying six shots, with three on target. The Titans’ four goals on the night were their single-match high for 2022. 

• Brinkman is a first-time Big West weekly honoree. Cal State Fullerton (6-4-4, 3-1-1 BW) is tied with Cal Poly for second in the current table at 10 points apiece, just one behind leader Long Beach State, with three weeks to go in the regular season.

Katelyn Meyer, UC San Diego  Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week  Senior • Defender • Campbell, Calif.

• Fourth-year senior Katelyn Meyer anchored the UC San Diego back line as the Tritons notched a scoreless draw at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night and a come-from-behind 3-1 home triumph over Hawai’i on Sunday afternoon to earn Big West weekly acclaim. 

• The center back in UC San Diego’s traditional 3-5-2 alignment, Meyer played all 180 minutes over the week’s action. The native of Campbell in Northern California and product of Archbishop Mitty High School has played all 1,350 minutes in 2022 after remaining on the pitch for all 1,589 minutes during the 2021 campaign. 

• Meyer is the Tritons’ first Big West weekly honoree in the sport of women’s soccer, as the program is in just its second season as a conference member. Sunday’s result against Hawai’i marked UC San Diego’s first Big West win and first home victory of the 2022 season. The Tritons moved to a perfect 3-0 all-time against the Rainbow Wahine.

Kaylin Raibon, Cal State Fullerton  Women’s Soccer Freshman of the Week  Freshman • Defender • Laguna Niguel, Calif.

• Kaylin Raibon assisted on a pair of goals during Cal State Fullerton’s only game last week, a 4-1 home romp over UC Riverside on Thursday night to earn Big West Freshman of the Week.  

• The true freshman defender out of Laguna Niguel and Aliso Niguel High School sent in two crosses that set up goals by Kaytlin Brinkman just 5:24 in, and Kaya Hawkinson in the 26th minute. That score by Brinkman proved to be the winner. 

• Raibon, who played 84 minutes against the Highlanders, is tied with five others, including teammate Karla Rodriguez, for The Big West lead with four assists on the year. Raibon has six points as a wing back, having scored the 73rd-minute decider in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at CSUN on Sept. 22. Raibon’s performance against UCR marked a first with multiple helpers, and the defender has appeared in all 14 games, drawing 12 starts. 

• Raibon is Cal State Fullerton’s second Big West Freshman of the Week of 2022, following redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mia Ranson to begin the year back on Aug. 22. Cal State Fullerton (6-4-4, 3-1-1 BW) is tied with Cal Poly for second in the current table at 10 points apiece, just one behind Long Beach State, with three weeks to go in the regular season.
