• UC Santa Barbara senior Randy DeWeese notched his third Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week award after leading the Gauchos to a perfect 4-0 record.

• The 6-6 opposite spearheaded the Gaucho offensive attack as UCSB won twice against No. 13 UC San Diego and twice more versus No. 11 UC Irvine all in a five-day span.
 
• DeWeese led the Gauchos with 59 kills over the four matches for a 4.21 kills per set average. He posted 19 kills in UCSB’s season opener against the Tritons, hitting .342 overall with six digs and three blocks.

• His best effort came in a sweep of the Anteaters in which he pounded 21 kills (7.00 KPS) with just two errors in 33 swings (.576). He added seven digs and a pair of aces.

• DeWeese, who had double figure kills in three of the four contests, closed out the week with an 11-kill, seven-dig effort in a four-set victory over UCI.

• For the week, the Sacramento native hit .361 (11-4-27) overall.

• UC Santa Barbara senior Keenan Sanders earned Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolades, the first such award of his career.

• The 6-6 middle blocker averaged 2.86 kills, 0.93 blocks and 0.43 digs per set as the Gauchos rolled to a 4-0 start with non-conference wins over No. 13 UC San Diego and No. 11 UC Irvine.

• Sanders hit a blistering .644 with 40 kills and just two errors in 59 attempts.

• He was incredibly efficient in the season opener, blasting 16 kills in 20 errorless swings for an .800 hitting percentage. He also had five blocks.

• Sanders knocked down 12 more kills without an error in a sweep of the Tritons. He hit .706 (12-0-17) for the match.

• He had four blocks to go along with nine kills and a .692 hitting percentage in a four-set triumph over UCI.
