LBSU Doubles Up on Softball Weekly Honors

FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SUZY BROOKSHIRE, LONG BEACH STATE

• Long Beach State's Suzy Brookshire mashed her way through opposing pitching all week, earning Big West Field Player of the Week honors.
 
• Brookshire became the first player in Big West and LBSU history to have a three-homer game, doing so last Monday against UC Riverside.
 
• The senior also hit a homer in her next game against UC Davis, a three-run shot that widened the lead in an eventual 8-3 win.
 
• In her four-game week, Brookshire hit .462 with four homers, 10 RBI and an eye-opening 1.385 slugging percentage.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
SHANNON HADDAD, LONG BEACH STATE

• Long Beach State's Shannon Haddad put up a lot of zeroes across her three appearances last week, earning Big West Pitcher of the Week accolades.
 
• Haddad's week started with a near-perfect relief appearance against UC Riverside, pitching two innings and allowing just one hit while striking out three.
 
• The transfer from San Jose State then started against UC Davis in her next appearance, going the distance and allowing just four hits, no runs, walking two and striking out six.
 
• Haddad wrapped up the week with another relief appearance, pitching three innings and allowing three hits, no runs and striking out two.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
DEENA PEDERSON, UC SAN DIEGO

• Deena Pederson sparked the offense in UC San Diego's first Big West series win, garnering Big West Freshman of the Week honors.
 
• Pederson picked up multiple hits in two of the Tritons' three outings against UC Santa Barbara.
 
• She was just a double shy of the cycle in the game two win, going 4-for-4 with a walk-off two-run homer to go along with a triple and five RBI.
 
• Pederson hit .700 for the week (7-10), while also scoring six runs and adding a stolen base.
