• Long Beach State junior Spencer Olivier compiled his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week award with a solid all-around performance in a series sweep of UC Irvine.

• The 6-6 outside hitter averaged 4.11 kills, 1.11 digs and 0.78 blocks per set as LBSU improved to 3-1 on the year after successive four and five-set wins over the 13th-ranked Anteaters.
 
• Olivier pounded a career-best 17 kills in Friday’s victory. He hit .464 (17-4-28) for the match to go along with three digs, four block assists and two aces.

• Olivier bettered his career-high total with 20 kills on .382 hitting in Saturday’s five-set road triumph. He added seven digs, three block assists and an ace.

• For the week, the Tustin native hit .419 (37-11-62) overall.

• Simon Andersen was a force at the net as the Long Beach State senior garnered his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.

• The 6-8 middle blocker averaged 1.56 blocks per set as he amassed a total of 14 blocks over nine sets.

• Andersen’s patrolling of the net helped limit UC Irvine to a combined .187 attack percentage for the series.

• He closed out Saturday’s five-set reserve sweep on the road with a pair of blocks to end the set and match. He totaled eight block assists in the victory.

• Andersen was no slouch offensively either as he hit .531 (18-1-32) for the week, including a .667 effort with 12 kills in 18 errorless attempts in the five-setter.
