Pierre-Louis' Career Game Leads No. 1 UCSB Past No. 9 Long Beach In Big West Quarterfinal, 95-87

Josh Pierre-Louis scored a career-high 24 points and JaQuori McLaughlin had 22, including key baskets and free throws down the stretch, as No. 1 seeded UC Santa Barbara held off No. 9 Long Beach State in quarterfinal game at the Big West Tournament on Thursday at the Michelob ULTRA Arena.

The Gauchos (20-4), who won for the 16th time in their last 17 games, also got 20 points and nine rebounds from Amadou Sow in the team's first game against Long Beach (6-12) since February of 2020. They have now won 20 games in four consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.

Manjon’s Game-Winning Layup Sends UC Davis To The Semis

Of the game-high 16 points scored by Ezra Manjon in Thursday's Big West Championship quarterfinal against CSU Bakersfield, it was his reverse layup, scored with one second remaining, that lifted UC Davis to a 58-56 victory and a berth in Friday's 6 p.m. semifinal against UC Santa Barbara at the Air Force Reserve Men's Basketball Championship, presented by the Hawaiian Islands.

‘Eaters Survive Cal Poly Comeback Attempt, Advance to Semifinals

No. 2 seed UC Irvine earned a 58-51 victory over No. 10 seed Cal Poly in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament, Thursday evening at Michelob ULTRA Arena.

UCI (17-9) led by as much as 22 points in the first half before the Mustangs (4-20) would cut the lead to as little as three with 7:23 left in the game. The Anteaters were clutch at the free throw line down the stretch and were able to stave off Cal Poly and advance to the Big West Tournament semifinals.

Highlanders Pull Away from Hawaii in Big West Tournament Quarterfinal

UC Riverside men's basketball entered an oddly-empty Michelob Ultra Arena to start its Big West Tournament run in oddly unchartered, yet favorable, waters – carrying the highest tournament seed in program history at three. 
 
On the heels of a three-game win streak to close out one of the most historic regular seasons in program history, UCR's late-game defense was the deciding factor in Thursday night's 62-52 win over Hawaii in the day's final quarterfinal matchup.
