Softball Honors Highlighted By UCSD's First Recipients

FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CLARISSA REYNOSO
Junior • C/1B • San Dimas, Calif. • San Dimas HS
 
• UC San Diego catcher Clarissa Reynoso was clutch all weekend for the Tritons against Grand Canyon, earning Field Player of the Week honors.
 
• In game one, her pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 11th jump started a rally that eventually delivered the game-winning run. The win was the first in UCSD’s Division I history.
 
• Game two saw Reynoso power up with a pair of home runs, making her being responsible for three of UCSD’s four runs in the game.
 
• Reynoso is the first Triton to win Field Player of the Week honors in their DI history.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ROBYN WAMPLER, UC SAN DIEGO

• UC San Diego’s Robyn Wampler earned the first weekly pitching honor in Triton history after her performance last weekend.
 
• Wampler pitched all 11 innings of the Tritons’ win over Grand Canyon, retiring the side in order in five of those frames.
 
• In all Wampler allowed just seven hits to the 43 batters she faced, allowing five runs, two earned runs and walking only one.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
HANNAH BECERRA, CAL STATE FULLERTON
INF • Diamond Bar, Calif. • Diamond Ranch HS
 
• Hannah Becerra delivered with the bat during Cal State Fullerton’s busy weel, earning her Freshman of the Week accolades.
 
• Becerra recorded two multi-hit games over the week, hit two homers and drove in seven runs. Five of those RBI came in the opener of a double-deader against Loyola Marymount.
 
• In that game against LMU, her three-run homer in the top of the seventh gave the Titans a lead they would not relinquish.
 
• Becerra recorded 11 total bases for the week and cleanly handled all six of her fielding opportunities.
