• UC Riverside sophomore Nadia Witt notched her first career Big West Softball Field Player of the Week award as the offensive star at the UCR Classic.
• The outfielder was a tough out the entire tournament in helping the Highlanders to a 5-0 record. Witt hit .688 with 11 hits in 16 at-bats and drew a pair of walks for a .722 on-base percentage.
• She had four multi-hit games and drove in at least one run in four of the five contests.
• Witt also was 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts.
• She opened the tourney going 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 9-1 win over Michigan State. She then went 4-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI in a doubleheader sweep of CSU Bakersfield.
• Witt posted her second 3-hit game of the week in a 9-8 victory over Southern Utah, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
• The native of Oregon completed a productive tournament with a 2-for-2 performance against California Baptist, scoring twice and driving in a pair in the 8-0 rout.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• Cal State Fullerton senior Sophie Frost claimed Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades for the second time in her career after not allowing an earned run in four appearances.
• Competing at the UCLA/Long Beach State Invitational, Frost tossed 18.2 innings and recorded a 0.00 ERA as the three runs she allowed were unearned.
• Frost went 1-1 with a save, striking out 20 hitters and walking just three for the week. Opponents hit just .176 against her.
• She pitched 4.2 innings of four-hit scoreless ball against No. 16 Michigan. She recorded a complete game two-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory over No. 18 Minnesota, finishing with eight strikeouts and just one walk.
• In a 7-2 win over No. 22 UCF, Frost came out of the pen to pick up a 2.1 inning save. She scattered three hits and struck out three to complete a masterful effort in the circle.

• Marissa Burk of UC Riverside garnered her first career Big West Softball Freshman Player of the Week award after a torrid effort at the plate in the UCR Classic.
• The infielder batted .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored and seven RBI to help the Highlanders post a 5-0 record.
• Burk notched three doubles and homered among her eight hits as she finished the week with an .875 slugging percentage.
• Burk went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI in an 8-0 victory versus CSU Bakersfield. She also had two-hit games against Michigan State and Southern Utah.
• She knocked her third double of the tournament in the finale, driving in two runs in UCR’s 8-0 triumph over crosstown rival California Baptist.
