• Emily Sonny and Jayelin Lombard won both matches against top 10 opponents over the weekend, breaking in the brand new Mustang Beach Volleyball Complex. 
 
• The tandem played against No. 6 Pepperdine, where they won three sets to two (16-21, 21-16, 15-8) and clinched the match victory for the 'Stangs. This victory against the Waves was the Mustangs' first win over a top 10 squad this season.
 
• The senior and sophomore duo also won their second match of the weekend against No. 9 LMU in straight sets (21-13, 22-20), giving Cal Poly the lead against the Lions. The Mustang pair helped Cal Poly get its second win over another top 10 team. 
 
• Sonny and Lombard are now 5-1 as a pair so far this season, which is tied for the best record on the team. The pair has led the No. 8 Mustangs to a 4-2 record so far on the season.
