Career-Best Effort Earns Locandro Women's Hoops Award

• UC Irvine freshman Sophia Locandro earned her first career Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award after a career-best performance in a key conference matchup.

• The 6-foot-3 forward finished with career-highs of 34 points and 11 rebounds to carry the Anteaters to a 72-71 win over second-place Hawai‘i.

• UCI improved to 7-7 in league play and clinched a berth in the Big West Tournament.

• Locandro achieved the program’s first 30-point double-double since 2014.

• It was also the first 30-point game by an Anteater this season.

• The native of Australia made 11-of-22 shots from the floor and 10-of-11 at the free throw line, all of which were season highs. She also knocked down two triples in four attempts from distance.

• She added two assists and three blocked shots in her 38 minutes on the floor.

• Locandro is averaging 10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks on the year.
