• UC Santa Barbara senior Randy DeWeese captured his second straight Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week award as a key cog in victories over Pepperdine and USC.
• DeWeese averaged 4.33 kills, 3.17 digs and 1.17 blocks for the week in back-to-back sweeps of the 9th-ranked Waves and Trojans.
• The 6-foot-6 setter – converted to an outside hitter this season – hit .333 (26-8-54) with 19 digs, seven total blocks and an ace over the two matches.
• DeWeese slammed a career-high 20 kills on .515 (20-3-33) hitting in the victory over USC. He chipped in with four digs and two block solos.
• Against Pepperdine, DeWeese had six kills and a season-high 15 digs to go along with five blocks (one solo).

SCOTT STADICK, UC IRVINE
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• Scott Stadick added a record 11th career Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award to the mantle as the UC Irvine senior continued to be a force at the net.
• The 7-foot middle blocker averaged 2.38 blocks and 0.88 digs to help the Anteaters split a pair of non-conference matches last week.
• Stadick had 10 blocks in UCI’s four-set loss to Concordia. It was his sixth match of 10 or more blocks this season. He also chipped in a career-high five digs.
• He then towered over No. 8 Grand Canyon with nine blocks (one solo) in a four-set win.
• Stadick also produced nine kills and seven digs for the week.

AKHIL TANGUTUR, UC IRVINE
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Outside Hitter • Pacific Palisades, Calif. • Palisades HS
• UC Irvine outside hitter Akhil Tangutur made the most of his first career start in earning the Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week award.
• Inserted into the starting lineup for Saturday’s match against No. 8 Grand Canyon, Tangutur responded with a double-double – career-highs of 10 kills and 10 digs.
• He hit .350 (10-3-20) against the Lopes while adding a career-best three total blocks (one solo) and one ace.
• Tangutur’s effort helped UCI snap a four-match skid.
