Noel Notches Men's Tennis Weekly Award

Cal Poly senior Antoine Noel garnered his second career Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honor as he had a hand in a win over a nationally ranked doubles team.

The Mustangs went out on the road to face No. 42 Denver and Lamar, coming away with a 1-1 split.

Noel did his part to get the win against the Pioneers. He and his partner, Joe Leather, upended the 52nd-ranked doubles team in the nation to help Cal Poly claim the doubles point. The 6-4 win over Matt Summers and James Davis led to a 1-0 advantage in the match.

Noel then won his match at the No. 1 spot in singles, defeating Summers 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. He played a role in both points as Cal Poly lost, 4-2.

In the 4-1 win over Lamar, Noel’s doubles match was suspended at 5-5 when Cal Poly clinched the point. He also lost his singles matchup with Axel Vila Antuna, 6-3, 6-1. Noel sports a 5-5 dual match record this season.
