UC Santa Barbara senior Joseph Guillin captured his second career Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week award after posting a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles.
Guillin highlighted the week with a win at No. 1 singles against No. 38 Corrado Summaria of Pepperdine. Guillin, ranked No. 8 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, knocked off the top Waves player by scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Guillin also combined with Alex Vedri at No. 2 doubles to defeat the Wave tandem of Summaria and Pietro Fellin, 6-2. Despite his efforts, the Gauchos lost a tight 4-3 match.
The French native was on the winning side of a 4-3 decision against Loyola Marymount.
Guillin breezed to an easy 6-3, 6-2 win over Diego Nava, and partnered with Vedri in a 6-3 victory over the Lion duo of Ethan Prost and Mayo Keenan.
Guillin is now 4-1 in singles and 3-1 in doubles for the season.

SATSUKI TAKAMURA, HAWAI‘I
WOMEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Hawai‘i sophomore Satsuki Takamura upset a nationally ranked singles player to receive Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.
Takamura recorded the lone point for the Rainbow Wahine against a top-ranked Stanford squad, defeating No. 49-ranked Janice Shin at the No. 1 position. Takamura earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Shin in the road dual.
Takamura, who began the week ranked No. 103 by the ITA, notched her second singles win against UC Irvine’s Stephanie Nguyen. Takamura earned a 6-0, 6-1 triumph to help UH to the 6-1 victory, the team’s first win of the season. She was the only UH player with two singles wins that week.
The Pepperdine transfer helped the Rainbow Wahine pick up the doubles point against the Anteaters. Teaming with Lea Romain, Takamura posted a 6-4 triumph over Jenna Schlatter and Arianna Tilbury.
