• CSUN junior TJ Starks has been selected the Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for December 7-13.

• Starks, a transfer from Texas A&M, led the Matadors to an impressive road win over Pepperdine.

• The junior posted a career-high 24 points (previous high was 23 with Texas A&M) in the 89-84 triumph Saturday. It was his third consecutive 20-point game.

• Starks broke an 84-84 tie with a free throw and sank two more in the final minute to hold off the Waves.

• The 6-2 guard made 8-of-15 from the field and 3-of-6 from distance while adding five assists, two rebounds and a steal in 32 minutes.

• Starks scored eight of CSUN’s final 10 points as the Matadors knocked off a Waves squad that had earlier defeated UC Irvine and California, and taken nationally ranked UCLA to triple overtime.

• Starks ranks third in the Big West in points per game (19.3) while he is second in 3-point made field goals (11).
