McCauley Excels In UC San Diego Debut

• In his UC San Diego debut, Kyle McCauley helped his team to a split against nationally ranked foes to earn his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week award.

• The 6-foot-4 outside hitter averaged 4.63 kills, 1.50 digs and 0.50 blocks per set to help the Tritons defeat No. 11 Loyola Chicago in five sets before losing to No. 6 Lewis in three.

• McCauley hit better than .350 in both matches and finished the week with a .413 (37-11-63) hitting percentage.

• He had a match-high 20 kills to go along with six digs, two aces and two block solos against the Ramblers. He followed with another match-high 17 kills on .481 (17-4-27) hitting versus the Flyers.

• McCauley posted a team-best six digs and added two blocks against Lewis.

• For the second straight week and ninth time in his career, UC Irvine senior Scott Stadick earned Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors as he put up a block brigade.

• The 7-foot middle blocker averaged 2.11 blocks per set with 19 blocks over nine sets in UCI’s split against Lewis and Loyola Chicago.

• Stadick posted nine total blocks (three solo) against No. 6 Lewis and a season-high 10 stuffs (two solo) in a four-set win over No. 11 Loyola Chicago.

• Stadick also hit .367 (14-3-30) for the week, including a season-high 11 kill effort on .476 hitting versus Loyola.

• CSUN outside hitter Kyle Hobus earned his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week honor after making the UCSB Asics Invitational All-Tournament Team.

• Hobus tallied 60 kills over 13 sets for a 4.62 average as the Matadors went 1-2 at the tournament.

• He hit .291 (60-23-127) overall, posting 24 kills on .346 efficiency in a five-set loss to McKendree and slamming a season-best 29 kills in another five-set defeat to Concordia. He added 14 digs for his first collegiate double-double.
