Greene Breaks Bren Events Center Boards Record

BRAD GREENE, UC IRVINE
MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior • Center • Lone Pine, Calif. • Lone Pine HS

• UC Irvine junior Brad Greene earned his first career Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor off of a monster performance in the conference opener.

• The 6-foot-11 center collected his league-leading fourth double-double with 13 points and a career-best 21 rebounds in UCI’s 74-60 victory over Hawai‘i on Saturday.

• Greene broke the Bren Events Center record with the 21 boards, eclipsing the 18 by Cal State Fullerton’s Cedric Ceballos on Feb. 24, 1990.

• The 21 caroms were the most by an Anteater since 1984 and just the ninth time a UCI player has recorded 20-plus rebounds. The UCI single-game record of 25 was set by Kevin Magee in 1982.

• Greene is one of just six players nationally this season to pull down 21 or more boards in a game.

• Nine of his 21 boards came on the offensive end, helping the ‘Eaters to a 13-7 advantage in second chance points.

• Greene shot 6-of-12 from the field with an assist and a blocked shot in 26 minutes of play.

• He ranks No. 2 in the Big West in rebounds with 7.1 per game.

OTHERS NOMINATED: Malek Harwell (Cal Poly); Lamine Diane (CSUN); Chance Hunter (Long Beach State); Eddie Stansberry (Hawai‘i)
