Men's Soccer Weekly Winners Help Slay National Foes

• Helping Cal State Fullerton to a pair of wins, including one over a ranked opponent, junior Christian Pinzon captured Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolades.

• Pinzon recorded a goal and two assists as the Titans upended No. 18 Loyola-Chicago (2-1) and Utah Valley (2-0) at home, enjoying a 4-0 start for the first time since 2000.

• The forward played a role in both goals against the nationally ranked Ramblers. He opened the scoring with a 13th minute header to the back corner. He assisted on another goal less than four minutes later.

• Pinzon produced another assist on CSF’s first goal against Utah Valley in the shutout victory.

• Pinzon ranks third in the Big West with seven points on two goals and three assists.

• Notching his third career Big West Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor, senior Wallis Lapsley helped UC Davis to two wins, including a shutout of No. 25 Air Force.

• Lapsley made three saves apiece in wins over CSU Bakersfield (2-1) and Air Force (2-0) – the six total giving him 12 on the year.

• After allowing just one goal over 180 minutes, Lapsley’s goals against average (0.24) and saves percentage (.923) rank No. 1 in the Big West.

• Cal State Fullerton midfielder Sebastian Cruz earned his first career Big West Men’s Soccer Freshman of the Week award as his first collegiate goal led to a win over a nationally ranked foe.

• Cruz struck the back of the net in the 18th minute of Friday’s 2-1 victory against No. 18 Loyola-Chicago.

• He recorded three shots against the Ramblers, and one more shot against Utah Valley in a 2-0 triumph.
