Cal Poly, Hawai‘i Claim Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• For the second time in a three-week period, Cal Poly junior Maia Dvoracek corralled the Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor.

• In her first season as a full rotation player, Dvoracek continues to put up impressive numbers. In three sweeps this past week, she averaged 5.56 kills per set while hitting .291 and put up 3.22 digs per set in addition to seven service aces and four blocks.

• The 6-foot-1 outside hitter totaled 50 kills and 29 digs over the three contests.

• Dvoracek finished with a match-high 19 kills on .405 hitting (19-4-37) against Long Beach State. She posted six digs, three aces and two blocks to help Cal Poly to its 25th straight victory at home.

• She notched 15 kills, eight digs and three more aces while hitting .286 (15-5-35) in a three-set win over Cal State Fullerton.

• Dvoracek concluded the week with her fifth double-double of the season, posting 16 kills and 15 digs against UC Irvine. She added two blocks and an ace. Her 42 aces for the season is tied for No. 2 nationally.

HANNA HELLVIG, HAWAI‘I
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

• Hanna Hellvig claimed her second Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week award, leading No. 11 Hawai'i to a pair of wins over the weekend for a 2-0 start to conference play.

• Hellvig had a career-high tying 17 kills against Long Beach State. She added three blocks, two digs and and ace in the four-set victory.

• The outside hitter recorded a career-high 20 digs against CSUN, adding 14 kills for her fifth double-double of her season. She also posted a team-high four blocks and two service aces. The 20 digs marked just the second time this season that a UH player has collected 20 in a match.

• The Sweden native has led the team in kills in five out of the Rainbow Wahine's last six matches.

MIKA DICKSON, CAL POLY
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• Mika Dickson secured her first career Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award after phenomenal performances in three wins. She helped Cal Poly sweep Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine during the first week of conference play.

• The senior averaged nearly six digs per set over the course of three matches, with double-digit numbers in all three matches.
 
• The libero finished with a match-high 17 digs against the Beach and added 14 more versus the Titans. Cal Poly extended the nation’s longest home court winning streak to 25 straight with the win over LBSU.

• In the match against UCI, Dickson finished with a career-high 22 digs in only three sets, giving her a 7.33 per set average. Cal Poly starts out 3-0 in conference play, and going back to last season, posted its ninth consecutive sweep against Big West teams.
