• UC Santa Barbara junior Nick Randazzo earned his third career Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week award after an outstanding performance at the season-opening meet.

• He won the UCSB Lagoon Open versus Cal Poly for the second year in a row, posting a time of 24:25 over the 8K course.

• Randazzo won the race by over 10 seconds in what represented the second-fastest time ever on that course by a Gaucho.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

• Cal Poly senior Peyton Bilo captured her sixth career Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor – and the first since the end of the 2016 season – earning individual medalist honors at the season-opening UCSB Lagoon Open.

• Bilo led the Mustangs to an 18-41 team win over rival UC Santa Barbara with a time of 17:53.62 in the 5k.

• It was Bilo’s second career win at the meet, as she previously won the dual in 2016 as a sophomore.

• Bilo edged teammate and defending Big West champion Miranda Daschian by almost 12 seconds for the victory.
