CALLEE HEEN, HAWAI‘I – SOFTBALL FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

• Hawai‘i junior Callee Heen earned Big West Softball Field Player of the Week accolades after leading her squad to a conference road sweep of Cal Poly.
• The first baseman/catcher batted .571 (4-for-7) with a team-high six RBIs as the ‘Bows outscored the Mustangs 22-1 in the three wins.
• Heen also walked five times – including three intentional walks – to finish the week with a .750 on-base percentage.
• She opened the series going 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the 6-1 win on Friday. The homer was her conference-leading 11th of the year.
• Heen drove in two of UH’s four runs on an RBI-single in the third and a bases loaded walk in the seventh in a 4-0 win.
• To close out the series, Heen went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 12-0 run-rule win.

BROOKE YANEZ, UC DAVIS – SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

• UC Davis sophomore Brooke Yanez picked up her fourth Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week honor – and seventh of her career – throwing 12.0 spotless innings in a pair of conference wins.
• Yanez was the winning pitcher in both of her appearances against UC Santa Barbara. She scattered eight hits and walked just four against 19 strikeouts over her 12 innings of work.
• The southpaw threw a complete game four-hit shutout in Saturday’s 3-0 win. She fanned 12 Gauchos for her seventh double-digit strikeout game of the year.
• She entered in relief of Sunday’s 9-0 triumph, striking out seven in her five innings of work.
• Yanez earned her 19th win of the season in the series finale, now one shy of the program’s single-season Division I record.
• Opponents hit just .186 against her on the weekend, and the shutout in the opener was her sixth of the season.

DANI MARTINEZ, CAL STATE FULLERTON – SOFTBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

• For the third time this season, Cal State Fullerton pitcher Dani Martinez garnered Big West Softball Freshman of the Week accolades.
• The right-hander appeared in all three games against CSUN and the Titan hurler finished the week 1-0 with a save and 1.14 ERA.
• She walked just three and struck out 11 in 12.1 innings pitched, allowing just a pair of runs.
• Martinez came out of the bullpen in her first two appearances. She allowed one run in five innings of Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Matadors. She threw a near perfect 2.1 innings of relief for the save in Saturday’s game two 7-3 victory. Martinez struck out three in her relief stint.
• The Bellflower native earned the start in the rubber game of the series and recorded the complete game victory in a 9-1 triumph. She allowed just one hit and one run while fanning five.
