Brittney Garcia supplied UC Riverside with plenty of offense in a 4-0 showing, earning Big West Softball Field Player of the Week accolades.
• The second baseman hit .692 (9-for-13) for the week. She scored five runs and drove in six more while delivering a couple of extra base hits.
• Garcia had at least one hit in all four games, including three multi-hit games. She went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in a 6-0 non-conference midweek road win over San Diego State.
• In the UCR Tournament, Garcia’s 7-for-10 (.700) hitting helped the Highlanders outscore their opposition 20-6 in a 3-0 showing.
• Garcia had six hits in seven at-bats in a pair of wins over Southern Utah. She went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI in an 11-2, run-rule victory. She had a second three-hit performance against the Thunderbirds in a 4-2 win.
• Garcia, who posted a .714 on-base percentage and .923 slugging percentage, helped the Highlanders extend their win streak to 10.

BROOKE YANEZ, UC DAVIS – SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Brooke Yanez earned Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades after tossing the first perfect game in UC Davis Division I program history.
• The southpaw collected her third weekly honor of the young 2019 season.
• Yanez did not allow an earned run in three starts, giving up three hits and an .054 average in 19 innings, striking out 26 against only three walks.
• Yanez threw her perfect game against Causeway Cup rival Sacramento State. She retired all 21 hitters she faced, including 10 via the strikeout, as the Aggies took a 4-0 victory.
• Yanez needed only 93 pitches to dispatch the Hornets, getting nine fly ball outs and two ground ball outs to go along with her fourth double-digit strikeout game of the season.
• The Ventura native won her 13th and 14th consecutive starts against Santa Clara and Marist, respectively. She threw a two-hit shutout against the Broncos with eight strikeouts, then tossed five innings of one-hit scoreless ball in a 6-0 win over the Red Foxes.
• All told, Yanez has not allowed a run over her last 26.2 innings, yielding just seven hits in that span, striking out 34 against five walks.

ALEXA NEIL, CAL STATE FULLERTON – SOFTBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
2B • Ramona, Calif. • Ramona HS
Alexa Neil captured her second Big West Softball Freshman Player of the Week award with .462 hitting at the Cal State Fullerton-hosted Easton Invitational.
• Neil had six hits in 13 at-bats to help the Titans post a 3-1 tourney record. She scored three runs with three RBI for the week.
• The second baseman notched two multiple-hit games. She hit 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in a 3-1 win over Boston University. Neil scored two of the three Titan runs.
• Neil also had a perfect 3-for-3 performance in a 5-1 victory over DePaul. She recorded the game-tying and game-winning RBI against the Blue Demons with her third inning home run and an RBI single in the fourth, respectively.
• She also stole a pair of bases and sported a 1.000 fielding percentage in 22 total chances.
