• Long Beach State’s Tia Chavira earned both Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors after helping her squad to a pair of upsets over UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.
• After switching from setter to outside hitter, Chavira made the move pay off as her performances were instrumental in the Beach’s two wins over the second and third place teams in the Big West standings.
• Chavira tallied a career-high 14 kills in a sweep of UCSB, then bested that mark with a new career-high of 16 versus Cal Poly.
• She hit .371 for the week, with 30 kills and just seven errors in 62 attempts. She was consistent with .375 hitting (14-2-32) against the Gauchos and .367 (16-5-30) versus the Mustangs.
• Chavira averaged 4.29 kills, 22.9 digs and 0.57 blocks per set as LBSU won its third and fourth consecutive matches.
• The San Bernardino native added 10 digs against the Gauchos to secure her third double-double of the season.

• Long Beach State senior Hailey Harward picked up her sixth career Big West Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award – and her second this season – anchoring the back row in a pair of stellar performances.
• The 5-foot-9 defensive specialist/libero averaged 4.14 digs per set as the Beach swept UC Santa Barbara and defeated Cal Poly in four sets.
• Harward tallied 14 digs against UCSB and 15 more versus Cal Poly, helping limit the opponents to a .134 attack percentage on the week.
• Harward’s 29 digs upped her career total to 1,565 which is just 13 shy of moving her into the top three all-time at LBSU.
• The Phoenix, Ariz. native also notched four service aces against the Mustangs.
