Randazzo, Ruelas Claim Cross Country Honors

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Junior • Ventura, Calif.

• UC Santa Barbara’s Nick Randazzo has received Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades for the third time this season and fifth time in his career.

• Randazzo is the first Gaucho to ever earn the award three times in one season. 

• The Ventura native finished second overall in the men’s 8K at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational with a personal best time of 23:55 seconds, smashing his time from last year at 24:36.5.

• The co-captain led his team to a victory over a 23 team field, beating out second place Utah Valley (12th Mountain Region) 52 to 68.

TRINITY RUELAS, CAL STATE FULLERTON
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Junior • San Dimas, Calif.

• Cal State Fullerton’s Trinity Ruelas earned her first career Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week award thanks to her effort at the Highlander Invite.  

• Ruelas won the women’s 6K race at UCR’s Ag/Ops Cross Country course with a time of 20:24.49, dominating the field by nearly 12 seconds.

• The junior’s 6K time was the second best time in Fullerton’s program history, only 1.09 seconds behind teammate and current title-holder Samantha Huerta.

• The Titan led her team to a powerful first-place finish as CSF scored just 31 points while keeping their distance from runner-up New Mexico State which had 82 points.
