A pair of seniors from Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly sparked their squads to conference sweeps as this week’s softball honorees.
BRYANNA YBARRA, CAL STATE FULLERTON – FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cal State Fullerton senior Bryanna Ybarra (Torrance, Calif./North HS) hit .750 to fuel a conference sweep of Hawai‘i, leading to her first career selection as Big West Softball Field Player of the Week.
➜ Ybarra had six hits in eight at-bats as the catalyst to a Titan offense that outscored UH by a 21-6 margin for the series. She also had a double and two home runs to finish the week with a 1.625 slugging percentage.
➜ The third baseman contributed two hits in all three games.
➜ Ybarra homered twice and finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 4-3 victory to open the series in Honolulu. Her solo shot to left center in the sixth inning gave the Titans a 4-3 lead and completed a comeback from a 3-0 deficit.
➜ Ybarra also crushed a two-run shot in the top of the second to trim Fullerton’s deficit to 3-2. She has four homers on the season.
➜ She went 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 6-2 win in game two. Ybarra closed out the series going 2-for-2 with a single and a double in an 11-1 rout.

LINDSEY CHALMERS, CAL POLY – PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Cal Poly senior Lindsey Chalmers (San Ramon, Calif./California HS) collected her second straight Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week honor – fourth of her career – as she won all three games in a conference series against CSUN.
➜ After winning the award last week in large part to a no-hitter against UC Davis, Chalmers continued to excel in the circle with a 0.47 ERA over 15.0 innings of work against the Matadors. She allowed 10 hits, two runs (one earned) with four strikeouts.
➜ Chalmers tossed two complete games as she won for the 12th time in her last 16 starts. In a 5-2 wins, she yielded just four hits, and only one of the runs the Matadors scored was earned. She walked three and struck out two.
➜ In the series finale, a 1-0 pitcher’s duel, Chalmers registered her fourth shutout of the season. She scattered five hits and fanned two as the Mustangs improved to 6-6 in Big West play.
➜ Chalmers earned the victory in relief with one inning of one-hit ball in Saturday’s game two, 3-2 triumph. With the score knotted at 2-2, Chalmers tossed a scoreless seventh before the Mustangs walked off with the winning run in the bottom half.
➜ Chalmers is 5-0 with a 0.31 ERA in her last five appearances.
