In their first week as a pair, Long Beach State’s Megan Kruidhof (Lakewood HS/Lakewood, Calif.) and Rachel Nieto (Las Lomas HS/Walnut Creek, Calif.) earned Big West Pairs Team of the Week Honor.
 
• On their home sand, Kruidhof and Nieto won all four of their matches last week in straight sets
 
• At the No. 2 spot, the tandem recorded a perfect record at the LBSU Tournament
 
• Kruidhof and Nieto defeated No. 16 LMU’s counter pair (21-18, 21-14) to help the Beach to a 5-0 win over the top-20 Lions
 
• The pair helped the Beach secure three 5-0 sweeps as LBSU claimed four straight victories and five of its last six matches
 
• With the four wins, Nieto became just the second player in Long Beach history to record 80 wins on the sand
 
• This is the first weekly award for Long Beach this season
