UC Irvine's road sweep of USC led to men's volleyball weekly honors for Karl Apfelbach, David Parker and Austin Wilmot.

KARL APFELBACH, UC IRVINE – PLAYER OF THE WEEK

➜ UC Irvine junior Karl Apfelbach collected his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor as he led the Anteaters in a nonconference road victory over USC.

➜ The 6-foot-8 opposite tallied a team-high 13 kills on .385 hitting as the Anteaters swept the Trojans by set scores of 25-18, 28-26, 25-13.  He committed just three errors in 26 swings.

➜ Apfelbach topped UCI in kills for the 14th time this year.

➜ He added two aces, two digs and two block assists to help UCI record its sixth straight victory.

➜ For the week, Apfelbach averaged 4.33 kills, 0.67 aces and 5.30 points.

DAVID PARKER, UC IRVINE – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

➜ UC Irvine senior David Parker earned his first career Big West Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor as he helped hold USC to .117 hitting in a road sweep.

➜ The 6-foot-1 libero recorded a match-high 11 digs in UCI’s sixth win in a row.  The 11 digs represented his second-best total in a match this season.

➜ Parker notched double-digit digs for the 10th time this season.

➜ He averaged 3.67 digs per set.  On the year, he is averaging 2.31 digs per set.

AUSTIN WILMOT, UC IRVINE – FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Outside Hitter • Valley Village, Calif. • Crespi Carmelite HS

➜ Austin Wilmot earned UC Irvine’s fifth Big West Men’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week nod – the other four going to Joel Schneidmiller – as the outside hitter had a solid all-around effort against USC.

➜ Wilmot recorded six kills in eight attempts without an error for a .750 attack percentage.

➜ He chipped in a team-high three blocks and added a pair of digs.

➜ Wilmot had a key block at 26-26 in the second set as the Anteaters went on to prevail in the set, 28-26.
