The 10th annual Big West Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Coin Drive has reached the midway point and the nine conference institutions have raised $4,252.42.
Cal State Fullerton has raised $1,175.88 to lead all Big West SAAC's while Hawai'i comes in with $1,000 for the second greatest amount raised at the midway point. Long Beach State is in third with $545 collected so far.
The Coin Drive is a group effort as each school's SAAC collects donations during the month of February for a charity of its choice. Last year, the Big West SAAC's raised $28,510.60 and $33,436.34 the year before that.
Since the Coin Drive commenced in 2008, the conference has now raised over $175,000 for various charities with a nine-year aggregate of $176,549.06.
Each institution's SAAC has a location on campus to collect for its charity of choice through the end of this month. For the third time in the coin drive's history, 100 percent of the funds raised will go directly to the designated charities. The top three fundraising SAAC's will receive a cash prize to put towards their SAAC budget.
