For the second consecutive week, Hawaii’s No. 1 Pairs Team in senior Katie Spieler (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS) and freshman Emily Maglio (Coquitlam, B.C., Canada/Pinetree Secondary School) received Big West Pairs Team of the Week honors after leading No. 5 UH to a sweep of Hawai‘I Pacific and TCU.

The pair dominated competition in the Rainbow Wahine’s first home matches of the season with consecutive two-set wins, averaging a 21-8 win margin against HPU and 21-12 against TCU.  The pair allowed just 40 points over a total of four sets. 

With the wins, the pair has now recorded victories in four consecutive straight-set matches, winning every set of last week’s sweep by at least eight points.  The No. 1 pair also contributed to the SandBows’ Ws in 10-straight matches.

With Spieler and Maglio’s performance, Hawai‘I claimed the Queen’s Cup and recorded an undefeated weekend.
