Senior Michael Bryson (Sacramento, Calif./Foothill HS) helped UC Santa Barbara to its first road win over a Pac-12 opponent in 12 years, as he earned Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
The 6-4 guard scored a team-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in UCSB’s 83-78 win at Washington. It was the program’s first road victory at a Pac-12 school since downing UCLA in 2003.
Bryson then torched Seattle for a career-high 36 points in an 88-50 trouncing. He tied a school record with nine three-point baskets and finished the game 11-for-20 from the field. He yanked down 13 rebounds to complete his third career double-double.
He closed out the week with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists in an 87-46 triumph against Point Loma.
The wins at Washington and Seattle marked the first time the Gauchos swept a non-conference road trip since December of 1992.
