Long Beach State’s Clermont Tosses Perfect Game

Clermont set down all 15 batters to lead the 49ers in their 9-0, five inning victory over New Mexico State.  She struck out 10 of those hitters in registering the 24th no-hitter in LBSU softball history.

She was dominant in the circle all weekend with two other double-digit strikeout performances.  Despite taking the loss in a tough luck 2-1 defeat, Clermont fanned 10 BYU hitters and allowed just five hits and two walks in a complete game effort.

Clermont closed out the San Diego Classic II with her third consecutive complete game effort, yielding three hits and three runs (one earned) in LBSU’s 5-3 win over Weber State.  She struck out a career-high 14 batters and issued just one walk.

For the week, she allowed just eight hits and three earned runs in 19.0 innings of work, walking three and striking out 34.  Clermont posted a 1.11 ERA and held opponents to a .121 batting average.
