Cal Poly's Elise Krieghoff and Chase Minter both received Senior CLASS Award postseason team honors as announced earlier this month.  Krieghoff was one of five named to the first-team while Minter received second team honors.

Selected from a nationwide pool for the distinction, Krieghoff and Minter are among nominees who excel in the areas of community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award honors the student-athlete who most embodies the four characteristics.

Krieghoff (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan HS) completed her illustrious career after setting multiple Big West and program marks in the respective record books.
The senior owns the mark wth 339 shots fired and set a new standard with eight career Athlete of the Week recognitions.  The Clovis native also set the single-season mark when she garnered five AOTW honors in 2013.

The Mustang is also just the second athlete in Big West women's soccer's 20-year hostory to be named to the All-Conference First Team all four years of her career.  To add to her list of achievments, the forward was named Big West Freshman of the Year in 2012 and was selected as the Big West Offensive Player of the Year in 2013.  Her 52 career scores rank second-most all-time while her 112 points are also second-best.  With 14 game-winners, the Mustang is fourth-best all-time.

Earlier in her collegiate career, Krieghoff shared with us why she was meant to be at Cal Poly. Read on in "Sense of Belonging Spurs Krieghoff To Great Heights At Cal Poly" to learn why Krieghoff knew she was born to be a Mustang.

On the men's side of things, Minter (Heath, Texas/Rockwall-Heath HS) became the second two-time Big West Midfielder of the Year, joining UC Santa Barbara’s Danny Barrera (2009-10) on the prestigious list. The program’s all-time career assists leader (21), Minter was the quintessential dual threat as attacker and creator for Cal Poly.  The midfielder netted seven scores for the third-best mark in league this season and recorded a conference second-best 20 points (7 goals, 6 assists).  The senior played a large role in Cal Poly earning its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament and factored heavily in CP's No. 16 rank in the national polls earlier this year.

We had the chance to sit down with Minter earlier this season, read on in "Chasing Down A Dream" how perseverance pays off and opportunities unfold where discipline and work ethic lead the way.
