UC Riverside junior Réjane Verin (Les Abymes, Guadeloupe/UNLV) shined against a pair of top-25 opponents, and averaged 21.3 points over three games to wrap up Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-1 forward led the offensive charge for the Highlanders in back-to-back road losses to No. 21 Cal (64-58) and No. 7 Oregon State (86-65). Against the Golden Bears, she secured a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-15 shooting, adding four assists, five steals and a blocked shot to her stat line.
Verin nearly posted a second straight double-double against the Beavers, finishing with a season-high 25 points to go along with eight rebounds, four steals and a block. She drained 11-of-24 floor shots to pace the UCR offense.
To start the week, Verin led the Highlanders to an 85-68 road win over San Diego State. She chipped in 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Verin also contributed seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots. For the week, she shot 50.9 (27-of-53) percent from the field and 71.4 (10-of-14) at the free throw line.
