
A rookie and a veteran accounted for Big West Softball Field Player and Pitcher of the Week recognition with strong performances at the Louisville Slugger Invitational.
Clark Hits .818 at Louisville Slugger Invitational
UC Santa Barbara freshman Kristen Clark (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista HS) reached base on nearly every plate appearance during three Louisville Slugger Invitational games, earning her Big West Softball Field Player of the Week accolades.
The outfielder hit .818 (9-for-11) with an .833 on-base percentage as the Gauchos went 2-1 at the tournament. Clark opened the tourney with a 4-for-4 performance in a 6-4 win over Nevada. She scored a run and stole a base.
Clark went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and another stolen base as UCSB dismantled Utah Valley State, 7-0. In a 10-1 loss to Northwestern, Clark was a productive 2-for-3 with her third stolen base of the tournament.

Jones-Wesley Ties Career Record For Pitcher of the Week Awards
Long Beach State senior Erin Jones-Wesley (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos HS) tied the conference record with her 14th career Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week award as the right-hander tossed a shutout in her only appearance.
Jones-Wesley threw a complete game, three-hit shutout against Nevada to lead the 49ers to the 4-0 victory in their only game played at the rain-shortened Louisville Slugger Invitational. She walked two and struck out five over the seven innings.
She equalled the initial mark of 14 set by former 49er teammate Brooke Turner, who played in the black and gold from 2008-11.
