
Cal State Fullerton sophomores Missy Taukeiaho and Jasmine Antunez garnered Big West Softball Field Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, as they helped the Titans forge a 5-0 record at the Easton Tournament, including a win over No. 2 Oklahoma.
Taukeiaho Hits Pair Of Homers In Titan Debut
The Cal State Fullerton debut for Missy Taukeiaho (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./University of Washington) was a stellar one as she earned Big West Softball Field Player of the Week honors while powering the Titan offense.
The sophomore transfer from the University of Washington hit .615 (8 for 13) with six runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI as the Titans dominated to the tune of a 5-0 record at the Easton Tournament. It was CSF’s first 5-0 start since the 2000 season.
Among Taukeiaho’s exploits was a home run and two RBI to help the Titans stun No. 2 Oklahoma, 3-1, in the second game of the tournament. Taukeiaho hit safely in all five games, recording multiple hits against Loyola Marymount, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh. Against the Panthers, she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and deposited her second homer of the tournament. For the week, she slugged 1.077.

Antunez Winning Pitcher In Triumph Over No. 2 Oklahoma
Cal State Fullerton sophomore Jasmine Antunez (Garden Grove, Calif./Garden Grove HS) notched Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades after posting a 2-0 record with a 2.80 ERA and picking up a victory against No. 2 Oklahoma.
The right-hander helped the Titans to their first win over a second-ranked opponent since Mar. 12, 2008 against UCLA. Antunez tossed five innings, yielding three hits and one run while striking out eight as CSF handed the Sooners a 3-1 loss.
Antunez also was the winning pitcher in the season-opening 9-0, five inning triumph over Loyola Marymount. She scattered one hit while walking two and fanning two.
Antunez, the 2013 Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year, also tossed a hitless inning of relief against George Washington.
