Cal State Fullerton junior Rebecca Wilson and CSUN sophomore Jovani McCaskill notched Big West Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading their teams to solid conference starts.

Wilson Scores Three Goals

Cal State Fullerton junior Rebecca Wilson (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS) was the offensive star as she scored all three of her team’s goals in a 1-0-1 week.

Wilson spearheaded CSF’s 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Hawai‘i on Thursday, scoring both goals.  She headed in the game-tying corner off a corner in the 31st minute, before responding again with another header in the 69th minute.

On Sunday at UC Davis in a 1-1 draw, Wilson leveled the scoreline in the 86th minute after converting a penalty kick goal.

Wilson leads the Titans with seven goals, including six in the last five contests.

McCaskill Leads Matadors To Pair Of Big West Road Victories

CSUN sophomore Jovani McCaskill (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake HS) made nine saves in a pair of Big West road wins, defeating UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on the road for the first time in school history.

McCaskill made four saves in the 1-0 victory versus UCSB to secure her second career shutout.  She stopped five more shots in a 2-1 win against Cal Poly.  For the week, McCaskill posted a 0.47 goals against average in 191 minutes of play.

She has started the last five matches in net for CSUN.  In 461 minutes, McCaskill has 21 saves, an .875 save percentage and a 0.59 GAA.
