UC Irvine sophomore Isaiah Thompson (Valley Center, Calif./Sherman Indian HS) is the Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the 25th Vanguard Invitational last Saturday.
Thompson, the 2013 Big West Freshman of the Year, won the 8,000-meter race with a time of 24:51.4 at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. He outdistanced a pack of 142 runners and helped the Anteaters to a second place team finish.
