Uiato Helps Hawaii Extend Win Streak To Six Straight

Senior setter Mita Uiato (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS) helped Hawai‘i win its third consecutive tournament title as the facilitator of a potent offensive attack, garnering her Big West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week acclaim.

Uiato, selected the Most Outstanding Player of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge, directed the Rainbow Wahine offense to a .314 team hitting percentage as UH swept Portland State and Northwestern, and knocked off Arizona in four sets.

She averaged 11.50 assists and 2.40 digs and 0.50 blocks per set as UH extended its winning streak to six straight matches and improved to 8-1 on the year.

Uiato compiled season-highs in both assists (53) and digs (12) against the Wildcats, while directing the UH offense to a .289 team hitting percentage compared to .259 for Arizona.

Uiato ranks second in the Big West with 10.91 assists per set while the Rainbow Wahine as a team lead the league circuit with a .316 hitting percentage.
